Baggage Allowance

New baggage-carrying policy on all Aegean flights starting 15th June 2012

Aegean simplifies policy on allowable baggage limits

Starting 15th June 2012, Aegean is adjusting its baggage-carrying regulations on all flights, adopting the policy already being implemented by other international airline companies.  With its new policy, Aegean will be bringing the baggage-carrying process into line with that of larger airlines, thus contributing to an improved travel experience for passengers. As a result, passengers will be permitted to check in a specific number of bags and up to a specific weight free of charge, depending on the seating class (Economy or Business) they have selected.

Please check the tables below for detailed information on the number and weight of bags you will be permitted to carry starting 15th June 2012:

Rules applying to infants

Infants (0 to 2 years old) have a baggage allowance of up to 20 kilos and one fold-up, collapsible stroller.

Passengers who wish to carry additional bags or bags that exceed their weight allowance may prepay through the company's website, www.aegeanair.com, the mobile site (mobile.aegeanair.com) or through the Aegean call center.  Please note that these prepay charges are up to 40% lower than the amount charged in the event payment is made at the airport.  Specifically, the following will be in effect starting 15th June 2012:

Charges for Additional/Overweight Bags

  • Prepaid through (a) Aegean website (www.aegeanair.com); (b) mobile site (mobile.aegeanair.com); and (c) through the call center

* Bags exceeding 32kg may not be checked. They will have to be shipped as cargo. The surplus contents of overweight bags may be checked using an additional bag, which will be subject to the above charges.

In the event payment for additional bags or overweight bags is made at the airport, the following charges apply:

  • Payment at the Airport

* Bags exceeding 32kg may not be checked. They will have to be shipped as cargo. The surplus contents of overweight bags may be checked using an additional bag, which will be subject to the above charges.

Hand luggage (Economy class)

Each passenger may carry on board the plane 1 item of hand luggage, weighing no more than 8 kilos and measuring no more than 55cm in length x 40cm in height x 20cm in width.

Hand luggage (Business Class)

Each passenger may carry on board the plane up to two pieces of hand luggage, of which the first may not be larger than 55cm in length x 40cm in height x 20cm in width (or 20cm in length for clothes-carriers), and the second no larger than 45cm in length x 35cm in height x 20cm in width. The first item may not exceed 8 kilos in weight, and the second may not exceed 5 kilos.

Specifically, Gold members travelling Business Class are allowed up to 3 bags weighing up to 32kg each, and those travelling Economy Class are allowed up to 2 bags weighing up to 20kg each.
