By making an offer on AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge you can determine how much you wish to pay for an upgrade to Business Class. You can submit your offer up to 10 hours prior to departure. Passengers will be notified whether they have won their bid via email. In order to take part in the AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge the ticket must be issued on AEGEAN or Olympic Air flight or when ticket is issued by other airline (for AEGEAN or Olympic flights).
2. On which routes is AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge being offered?
Not all flights are eligible for an upgrade. AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge is offered on selected flights operated by AEGEAN or Olympic Air. You can check your eligibility by entering your booking reference (PNR) and last name on the AEGEAN upgrade Challenge webpage.
Also, all flight legs of your booking which are suitable for an upgrade will be displayed. You decide for yourself for which flights you make an offer.
3. Who can make an offer for an Upgrade?
You need a valid and issued AEGEAN or Olympic Air ticket or a valid and issued ticked by other airline, for an eligible scheduled flight, operated by AEGEAN or Olympic Air.
4. Is every passenger eligible for getting an upgrade?
Yes, if you have an AEGEAN flight document on any of the eligible flights. Exceptions are:
1. Passengers travelling with children under 2 years of age.
2. Passengers booked within a group of more than 9 people.
3. Flight bookings which are not yet confirmed.
4. Passengers travelling with animals (pet in cabin and/or animal in hold), extra seats (for comfort and/or medical reasons or cabin baggage e.g. musical instrument).
5. Unaccompanied minors.
5. Are there any specific reasons why I may not be eligible to make an upgrade offer?
There are several different factors that may restrict your eligibility to make an offer to upgrade, these include:
- No seat availability on your flight
- You do not have a ticket yet
- Your reservation is not confirmed yet
- Your flight is not operated by AEGEAN or Olympic Air
- The flight you are travelling on is not currently accepting offers
6. How much does it cost to make an offer?
The offer is free of charge. Only if you receive the upgrade your credit card will be debited with the amount of your offer. Please note that we will still need your credit card details at the time of making your offer for verification purposes. There will be no additional taxes or charges other than the amount you will choose when submitting the offer, which will include all applicable taxes and fees (if any) for the Upgrade.
7. What happens if an offer has been submitted but the flight has to be changed or canceled?
In case you change your flight and your offer has not yet been accepted by the airline, your bid will not be transferred to the new flight and will be canceled.
In the event AEGEAN or Olympic Air changes your flight and your bid is not yet accepted, your bid will not be transferred to the new flight and will be canceled.
If your offer has already been accepted and your flight is changed or cancelled, your offer will be fully refunded. Please note that as your offer has already been accepted, you may no longer change your offer.
8. What happens if my upgrade has been accepted, but I have to cancel my trip?
After your offer has been accepted, the upgrade amount is no longer refundable.
9. I need to change a flight booking, for which I have made an upgrade offer. Can I transfer my offer to my new flight?
No. Upgrade offers are non-transferable. You will need to cancel your original offer and make a new offer on your new booking.
10. I need to change a flight, for which I have successfully received an upgrade. Can I transfer my upgrade?
Upgrades cannot be transferred. If you choose to change your flight you will not be refunded or credited for your successful upgrade offer.
11. I need to cancel a flight, for which I have successfully received an upgrade. Can I cancel my upgrade?
You can cancel your booking as per your original fare rules, but you will not receive a refund for your successful upgrade offer.
12. What happens if I cancel an offer by mistake?
Up to 10 hours before departure you may re-offer, modify or cancel your offer.
13. Is the time of making the offer decisive for its ranking?
No
14. I am traveling as a couple or family.
AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge considers all passengers within a joint booking. As long as you are not registered under one and the same booking number, you may submit your individual offer.
15. Will the AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge change the conditions of my ticket?
No. All conditions remain valid and unchanged.
16. My offer has been accepted. How much luggage I am allowed to carry?
For the upgraded segments the passenger has the baggage allowance of the respective upgraded compartment. For details please see here: https://en.aegeanair.com/travel-information/baggage/ . In the event that part of your itinerary includes a flight that is operated by another airline, the baggage allowance of the upgraded compartment applies only to your flight with AEGEAN or Olympic Air and only for the upgraded segment.
17. Can an upgrade also be purchased before a ticket is issued?
No, an upgrade can only be purchased after the ticket has been issued.
18. How do I know what price to offer for an upgrade?
All flights have a range from which you can select the value you want to offer. The Offer Strength gauge, found on the offer page, can help you determine the strength of your offer. The gauge is to be used as a guide, not confirmation that your offer will be successful.
19. Is there a specific amount that I should offer to be successful in receiving an upgrade?
The Offer Strength gauge gives you an indicator of the strength of your offer. This gauge is to be used as a guide, not confirmation that your offer will be accepted.
20. I received an email inviting me to make an offer to upgrade. What do I do next?
Click the link in the invite email to launch the AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge webpage. Follow the simple step-by-step process to make your offer.
21. I deleted my invite email, but want to make an offer. What should I do?
Visit the AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge webpage, enter your booking reference and last name in the fields provided, and follow the simple step-by-step process to make your offer.
22. How many days do I have to submit my offer?
The offer submission window closes 10 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time.
23. I forgot to make my offer before offer window closed. Is there any way I can still submit an offer?
No. Once the offer window has closed there is no way to submit an offer. All offers must be made at least 10 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time.
24. If I didn't receive an invite email, can I still make an offer?
You can visit the AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge webpage to confirm your eligibility and make an offer.
25. Is it possible to increase/decrease my offer, if I have already made my offer?
Yes. Provided the offer window has not closed, you can modify your offer by clicking on the link in your confirmation email, or by visiting the AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge webpage.
26. What forms of payment are accepted for offers?
Accepted payment types include credit card. Accepted card types include Visa and MasterCard.
27. I need to change the payment type I used to submit my offer. How can I do this?
Unfortunately you cannot simply change your payment type. Instead you must cancel your original offer and make a new offer.
28. Can I submit an offer with Miles+Bonus miles?
No.
29. What is the option “Upgrade now”?
Upgrade now refers to when you select your flight to be instantly upgraded to Business Class instead of applying for a bid (“Offer”). When you choose the option to “Upgrade Now” and provided that there are seats available, then your upgrade request will be authorized and you will be charged directly. Option for Instant Upgrade will be offered from 120 hours before departure. Same Terms & Conditions apply either for the Bid (“Offer”) or for the Instant Upgrade.
30. If I have redeemed miles for an award ticket will I be eligible to make an offer to upgrade my award ticket?
Yes.
31. What upgrade mileage will I receive?
Miles earned for travel using upgrade will be based on the original fare. Miles do not change upon upgrade.
32. I don’t want to receive emails related to AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge. What can I do?
In case you don’t want to receive emails related to AEGEAN Upgrade Challenge, you can click on the “Unsubscribe” link provided inside the said communication. When you select this option, you will no longer receive any future invitation to join the Upgrade Challenge. You will only receive emails regarding the status of our offer (also called “transactional emails”).
