Passengers with special needs

Our main priority is to provide an excellent service to all our passengers. For this reason, we offer all the services that are essential for you to safely board the aircraft and have a comfortable flight.

If you need assistance from AEGEAN’s staff during check-in and boarding the aircraft or if you need transportation in a wheelchair when boarding and exiting the aircraft, please inform us when you make your booking and at least 48 hours before your flight. You can make a request for special assistance when you make your booking online or contact the AEGEAN call center at (+30) 210 6261000.

Passengers with certain medical conditions, those requiring special care during the flight, as well as passengers in the post-operative period may be required to provide a Medical Information Form (MEDIF). The MEDIF is completed by the passenger's attending physician, giving details on the patient's state of health and certifying that he or she is fit to fly.

You can check-in online 48 hours before your flight and print your boarding pass at the airport. At the Athens and Thessaloniki airports, there are special check-in counters exclusively for people with special needs. Please note that you must arrive at the airport at least 120 minutes before your flight.

Passengers with reduced mobility are allowed to transport two items of mobility equipment without additional charge. Mobility equipment which can be used for sports is free of charge as well (up to two pieces total).

For any questions or complaints, please contact us and through the AEGEAN call center at (+30) 210 6261000.

Medical oxygen supply in flight

If oxygen needs to be administered during a flight to a patient or person with special needs, please notify us through the AEGEAN call center at (+30) 210 6261000 so that we can give you precise guidelines for the procedures to be followed.

The Medical Information Form (MEDIF) must first be completed by the doctors who are treating the patient, providing information on the patient's state of health and certifying that he or she is fit to fly. In addition, since the oxygen cylinder that will be used has to be an aviation-type cylinder (i.e. suitable for use on aircraft), it must be accompanied by the corresponding documentation [Oxygen Declaration / Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC)] certifying its suitability for use during the journey.

Travelling with personal wheelchair

Wheelchairs are carried free of charge and are not counted as part of the standard baggage allowance. Passenger travelling with wheelchairs with non spillable wet battery, lithium battery or lithium ion battery should perform their request through the AEGEAN call center.

No MEDIF is required when wheelchair assistance is requested for:
  • Visually, hearing and/or speaking impaired passengers
  • Passengers who need a wheelchair, but not as a result of a medical condition, e.g. those who need a wheelchair because of old age, comfort, etc.

Please be advised that: Passengers requiring mobility assistance (e.g., wheelchair or walking aids) cannot travel as the accompanying adult for an infant.

Pregnant passengers

Pregnant women are acceptable for carriage on all AEGEAN flights up to the end of the 36th week of pregnancy. If more than 36 weeks have passed, pregnant women are not accepted for transportation.

Carriage of stretcher

Passengers are permitted to travel on a stretcher on domestic and international flights, strictly operated by AEGEAN only and only on Airbus aircraft. All stretcher requests must be sent to AEGEAN at least 48 hours prior to departure. For further information, please contact the AEGEAN call center at (+30) 210 6261000.
