An infant is a child who has not yet reached his/her 2nd birthday during his/her entire trip.
Acceptance/limitation rules
- Infants up to 7 days old are permitted to fly, provided the parent or guardian can present a doctor’s certification confirming that the infant is fit to travel and was not born prematurely.
- Parents of premature infants need to provide certification from an obstetrician that the infant is in good health to travel.
- It is allowed maximum one (1) infant per accompanying adult, adult who is over 16 years of age.
- Parents/guardians must carry the infant's necessary identification documents, as well as any other documents required at the destination (for example, VISA/passport etc.).
- Infants can only travel on the lap of their parent/guardian. It is permitted to carry formula and/or breast milk in your cabin baggage until 6kg. Nevertheless, there is the possibility that you will be inspected at the checkpoints.
- The maximum number of infants allowed per aircraft is decided by the number of oxygen masks and infant belts available on board the aircraft.
- Passengers requiring mobility assistance (e.g., wheelchair or walking aids) cannot travel as the accompanying adult for an infant.
Fare rules
- If infants are travelling on the accompanying adult’s lap, the Infant Fare applies.
- If the adult prefers that the baby has his/her own seat (in compliance with the necessary safety standards), then a discount Child Fare (if available) must be purchased and the adult must carry a car-type seat with him/her, which should comply with the international safety standards (find out more in the section below). The required procedure to be followed is to contact AEGEAN’s Call Center or his/her travel agent, accordingly.
- If the infant turns 2 while travelling, a separate seat must be booked for him/her at the Child Fare for the entire journey. In this case, carrying a car-type seat is optional.
