How to file a Damaged Baggage Claim- quick and easy steps

If your baggage is damaged, you must report it immediately. Visit the Baggage Handling Office at the destination airport before leaving the baggage claim area to initiate your damage claim. To help AEGEAN process your claim, please provide the following:

  • Damaged baggage
  • Baggage tag
  • Your ID card or Passport
  • Your boarding pass

In case you did not file a damage report at the destination airport, you must make sure that you have a photograph of the damaged baggage while you were still in the baggage claim area of the airport and file your report within seven (7) days of arrival. Please include: 

  • photos of the damaged baggage which must be taken immediately upon arrival before leaving the baggage claim area
  • the baggage tag
  • a purchase receipt of damaged baggage, if available
  • additional information or proof you think may assist in evaluating your case.
Passengers must initiate any damage claims prior to leaving the baggage claim area of the destination airport!

Baggage repair & replacement services

At AEGEAN, we are dedicated to repairing damage that occurred to your baggage. If your baggage is beyond repair and cannot be used, AEGEAN will replace it with baggage of equal value or offer you compensation based on its current market value. Our expert partners in baggage retail will assess the damage to ensure a fair evaluation.

Important information on baggage damage liability & insurance

 

Please note, if the required steps for reporting baggage damage are not followed, AEGEAN will not be able to accept liability for the damaged bag. By accepting baggage without filing a complaint at the time of delivery, passengers are confirming that the bag was delivered in good condition.

Travel tip: Arranging for travel insurance coverage through your insurance provider before your trip is always an option. This ensures you’re fully covered in case of any unforeseen baggage issues during your travels.

Restrictions & exceptions

Normal wear and tear is expected over the life of any item.


AEGEAN and Olympic Air are not liable for damage that includes but is not limited to:

  • manufacturing defects
  • unsuitable packing/Overpacking (incl. zippers broken caused by these)
  • damages from negligent packing (e.g. spillage of bottled liquids)
  • loss or damage to pockets, security straps and external or integral locks
  • superficial damage to wheels or the outside of baggage
  • scratches, marks and dents (normal wear and tear)
  • minor stains and scuffs
  • name badge or various external items attached missing
  • beading exposed
