Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève & Eastman: Ihsane by the acclaimed choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui

Ihsane means kindness, compassion — communion with the universe. With this multifaceted title comes an equally multifaceted performance paying tribute to the Moroccan roots of choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

Drawing material from childhood memories and dreams, the choreographer proposes a poetic "exercise of reconciliation", which attempts to overcome personal and geopolitical contradictions, deconstructing stereotypes surrounding the Arab world.

In this bold production, two renowned dance companies, the long-established Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève and the younger, multi-disciplinary Eastman, both under Cherkaoui’s artistic direction, bring to life the artistic vibrancy of the Arab world, accompanied by an original score composed for the work by Jasser Haj Youssef.
